The Terror Of Our Lives Must End

Why we give ourselves to the conversation for humanity's triumph.

Humans - We have organized ourselves and our human world in a way that is bad for us. We’ve given power to greed and delusion. We suffer accordingly.

“Terror mixed with pain, torture” 1854-1856, printed 1862 - Guillaume-Benjamin-Amant Duchenne (de Boulogne) (artist) French, 1806-1875, albumen print. National Gallery of Art. Public Domain.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

We can have a world designed for the well-being and fulfillment of us all.

We can have a humanity that works together and ensures that each and every one of us thrives.

This will radically elevate the quality of our lives and the lives of those who come after us.

All of our lives. From the most destitute and vulnerable to the wealthiest and most powerful.

Our current world, dominated by fear, ruled by force, and twisted by greed, is a painful, unsatisfying place to live. Yes, there is fulfillment available. But only in spite of the horror. Most of those who “win” do so in an ugly, soul-sucking game. Those who escape must live knowing that most remain trapped.

To be OK, we have perfected denial:

"It’s not that bad,” we say. “Look at the bright side. There is much beauty in life.

And so there is. And this keeps us going.

But only in spite of the horror.

“Fall of the Damned” 1642 - Jonas Suyderhoff (artist) Dutch, c. 1613-1686 and Sir Peter Paul Rubens (artist after) Flemish, 1577-1640, engraving on laid paper. National Gallery of Art. Public Domain.

We have done this to ourselves. We’ve taken the natural competition of life, the competition to survive and thrive in a world teeming with potential and real adversaries, and twisted it into a reason for being violent, grasping little beasts. We’ve given ourselves permission to be awful, to each other, and to the world, by telling stories about ourselves and the world that justify our behavior.

It’s a lie that it must be this way. We made it this way. We are the ones telling these stories.

We are not stuck being psychotic rats. We can do better.

We now have the ability to remake ourselves and our world globally. We can now choose how we want this world to be, how we want ourselves to be, and make it so. Not through some magic or miracle. We can remake ourselves and our world through the power of language… coordinated at a global scale.

This is the moment we’ve longed for, hoped for, prayed for. This is our chance. This is our chance to make good on the gifts we were given, the gift of life and the gift of language. This is our chance to choose who we really want to be and make it so.

Making the most of our two greatest gifts:

The Gift of Life

The Gift of Language

What could be a greater triumph for us? What could be a greater victory?

We now have the opportunity to honor what we’ve been given by choosing to come together and remake ourselves for the glory of all.

We now have the opportunity to transform and transcend our wretchedness.

All of us. Together. A humanity that honors our capacity to shape ourselves however we choose.

Doing so will make our lives unbelievably great.

Not perfect, not without problems. We’ll still have plenty of problems! Taking responsibility for our power to create and choosing an honorable path, however, will make our lives great.

There’s nothing else we can do with this impact. There’s no more satisfying or complete victory. Every single one of us wins. All of life everywhere wins. And you made it happen.

Humanity’s greatest triumph -

Coming together for the glory of all.

No amount of domination or force can get you this. No amount of money or power. It’s not even close. Real fulfillment is not available through accumulation and domination.

If you want to live and die a hero, you must live for something great.

It is now possible for all of us to come together, all over the world, and choose to remake ourselves and our world as a gift to all of life. This will be your legacy, your accomplishment. This will be what you have done. You will have chosen to be a new type of human, a glorious human. You will have chosen to make yourself and your life for the triumph of all.

Make this your legacy.

You will give your life for the glory of all…

Or you will hold on to who you think you are and what you think you have…

and die, just like that.

Either way, you will die soon enough.

Choose.
