The Case For A New Human Narrative

What if humanity is a mistake that is easily corrected?

We assert:

1. All of us (humans) want and need the same fundamental things.

(You can see more on this in our recent newsletter, Our Great Mistake.)

2. The great majority of us will honor this common ground if given the chance.

3. We can make 1+2 (above) the way of our world.

1 + 2 = 3

It seems so simple. And it is. It is simple and obvious.

We want the same things and will honor that, given the chance. (A real chance!)

And yet we have never done it.

In 200,000 years, humanity has never been united for what we all most want and need.

Consider history. Watch the news. Listen to what people say. Or look at some basic data (like the six clear indicators at the top of our recent newsletter, Our Early Ask).

It’s not hard to understand. It’s everywhere. Humanity is divided and failing to take care of that which is most important to us all.

Pretty stupid, eh?

What if we’ve simply made a mistake?

And what if that’s easily corrected?

What if humanity (as we know it) is a mistake that is easily corrected?

(NOT God’s mistake! That is NOT what I’m saying! Our mistake, based on poor choices. Come on, now!)

What if we can easily get ourselves on track, once and for all?

Well, now that would be worth doing, wouldn’t it?

Could it really be possible?

Of course it’s possible!

  1. All of us want and need the same fundamental things.

  2. The great majority of us will honor this if given the chance.

  3. We can make this how we run our world.

One plus two equals three.

1 + 2 = 3

So, how do we do it?

How do we begin running the world for what we all most want and need?

How do we give the great majority of people a real chance to honor this common ground?

Well, how did we get into our current pickle in the first place?

How did we “end up” in a world where:

  • 29% (2.3+ billion) of us say we are unhappy.

  • 12% (970 million) live with a mental disorder.

  • Every 43 seconds, someone takes their own life, almost a million each year.

?

What if it’s all a product of our conversations? Our words, our narratives and stories?

We have said and written many, many things over the centuries. Words and language are (practically) everywhere. We have plotted and schemed. We’ve written “histories”. We have told stories. We have argued. We have slandered. We’ve created views of ourselves and the world, using words (i.e., in conversations). We’ve made agreements.

And then, based on our views, stories, and agreements, we’ve taken action.

What if the world we have now, and the people in this world, are simply a product of all that we’ve said, agreed to, and then done?

What if we said, “Let’s do it this way,” and then we did stuff, and now we’re here?

Well, if we got ourselves into this pickle, we can get ourselves out.

We can change the narrative.

  • We can say new things.

  • We can make new agreements.

And then we can do new stuff.

And now, we can do this globally.

We now have the technology to rewrite who we are on a global scale.

  • 68% of the world is now using the internet.

  • Over 90% can be reached with current language translation tools.

  • Almost the entire world will be reachable electronically within the next decade.

What if we use this connectivity to have a global conversation that brings us all together?

What if we use our technology for what we all most want and need?

What if we use our technology to:

  1. Author a new narrative for who we are and what we can accomplish together, an all-inspiring purpose and vision for humanity.

  2. Spread this narrative virally through all languages and cultures, empowering people to contribute as co-authors.

  3. Achieve critical mass.

?

And then we all come together and organize to realize the vision?

As far as we can tell, there is no other way.

For us to ”correct course” and begin creating the world we all really want, we must develop and scale a global conversation for this.

  • A giant, public conversation.

  • A committed conversation. (More on this soon.)

  • A conversation that creates a new identity and vision, altering what’s possible and bringing us all together.

What if we author a conversation for who we are and what we’re all up to that grows and spreads throughout the world, inspiring and uniting us all?

This is UMA’s mission:

To author the conversation that unites humanity.

It may not seem like much now. But we are just starting! And others have already laid extensive groundwork. We are simply creating a new opportunity, a new way to unite.

Until we all start pulling in the same direction, our efforts are compromised. We need everyone on the same team.

Governments will not do this. Corporations will not. Religions will not. (At least not at first.)

We, the people, must do it.

A radically public, global conversation, by the people, for the people.

A conversation that brings us together for the great benefit of all.

We the people must show ourselves and the universe who we really are. We must choose what we really want. And we must do this ourselves if we want it. It’s our choice! No one else can choose for us.

And so, we begin. This moment is precious.

You now have the chance to support a new human union in its infancy.

In our first year we are:

  • Sharing UMA’s vision and personal narratives through blogging, videos, and talks.

  • Building an initial community of supporters.

  • Developing emotionally powerful, relatable storytelling that drives viral growth.

What if this is easier than we think?

The world is made of words. Can we not change the words?

We will soon be fundraising. Please support our efforts there!

Now is our time.

The world is at an inflection point.

We have the chance right now to put forth a new vision and pathway for humanity.

This is our shot.
